Reflections #3

Has blog posts and digital media impacted my learning?  I'm not sure yet!  I know that I am learning, but how much and how effectively is yet to be seen.

Have I connected with other classmates?  Somewhat.  Certainly for our Group Labs, where I met Kevin & Jeff - but also, several of my classmates have picked me out of a crowd to ask questions, make comments, or just say "Hi!"  I can't help but wonder if that is because I stand out like a sore thumb (because I'm at least as old as their parents), or because they are far better at noticing classmates among the hoards of Cougers wandering around campus than I am.  I have met several of my classmates in other classes, and occasionally meet the same people as we cross paths at the same places each week, but I feel it is certainly a skill I need to improve on!  But here again, you are probably thinking about connecting digitally, while I am still thinking of face-to-face connectinos.

Reflections #2

In our Digital Civilization class (DigiCiv), we not only are supposed to learn about history, but also digital technology!  This has been far more challenging for me than I supposed that it would!  So much so that I even bared my soul as a Scardy-Cat in one of my blog posts!  However, soon after posting how nervous I was/am with so much new technology all at once, I came across a TED talk that I blogged about that gave me the courage to move forward with curiosity, interest, and confidence.  I certainly believe that I can do just about anything - I guess I just needed to whine for a few moments before I pulled myself up "by the bootstraps" and got to work!

Reflections #1

It's midterm time, & in this class, part of our midterm requirement is to meet with our professors. This will be a good opportunity for them to evaluate me personally, and for me to ask them questions, enlighten my understanding, and recommit to the ideals of this course.

In our course, we have covered both historical eras of the Renaissance and the Enlightenment. These are both quite interesting eras of history because of the changes, the explosions of new ideas, and the beauty that we can still enjoy (and study) today!
