The Atomic Age

The Atomic Age in the United States caused not only a plethora of scientific inventions, expansions, and new knowledge - it also brought about new ideas, new styles, and new ways to do old things.

Check out this clock from the 1950's - typical of the Atomic Age style that was prevalent in those years.

Or who could forget those glasses - who ever thought that THIS was a good idea??!!

How about some good old Atomic movie monsters?!

Godzilla has to be the all--time favorite!!

Monsters Vs Aliens is the latest weird-circumstances movie that mutates someone because of some atomic-looking goo gets on someone.  (Isn't that how all the monsters get mutated?!)

The Last War: A World Set Free (Bison Frontiers of Imagination)Books!  HG Wells' book "The Last War" is all about a WWIII that is totally atomic.  Hmmmm - glad we have had better sense than that!

Movies!  I think the all-time classic movie about the Atomic Age is Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb - made even stranger through Peter Sellers' wild & weird characters!   I was particularly interested to discover that this movie is from a book by the same name - Perhaps it would be interesting reading!

... and of course, there is always the instructions for what to do in case of a nuclear attack!  Hide under your school desk - that will keep you safe!
