Steal Like an Artist & Show Your Work

Recently, someone suggested that I get and read the two books, Steal Like an Artist and Show Your Work, both by Austin Kleon.  These books have opened my eyes to a whole new possibility of expression!

The summary of both books is that there is nothing new, just your adaptation of an older bit of something you've seen before; and don't be afraid to show you work to the world - as you develop and grow your signature expression, the process may help and inspire others.  As others comment, suggest, and even criticize, you will grow. Only through an open expression of design and expression can you fully develop your own.

With this in mind, I plan to show some designs that I am working on - with an eye toward bettering my abilities and perhaps gaining inspiration from you, my readers.

Please comment - as I said a while ago in my post Yea, but who is reading it all?, "to meaningfully comment on [each others' blogs] - to continue the conversations.  How by really communicating with each other, we are not only learning from each other, but also encouraging, teaching, growing, and not wasting our time!"

So my latest thoughts range far and wide - from sewing projects, designing homes, planting one plant in a container as this year's garden, finding ways to be a better grandmother to my partially deaf granddaughter, and finding a new job.  Some I'll post here, and others I'll keep ruminating about for a while!

What have you been thinking about lately?!
